Double Eyelid Surgery (Asian blepharoplasty) in Melbourne

At DermaMed, we are the cosmetic surgery and skincare experts. One of our popular procedures is Double eyelid surgery, also known as Asian upper blepharoplasty, which our experienced surgeons offer at our Melbourne clinic. This is a cosmetic procedure performed to create or enhance the upper eyelid folds.

The purpose of the procedure is to create an upper eyelid with a crease (i.e. “double eyelid”) from an eyelid that is naturally without a crease (a.k.a. “single eyelid”) that is common amongst East Asians. The procedure is similar to that of a standard blepharoplasty, except that fat is almost always removed, and that a new crease is formed at a position that has been previously approved by the patient (the position of the newly formed crease is discussed with the patient prior to the procedure). The incisions are then closed with very fine sutures that are removed 7 days later.

How long is the recovery time?

Generally, eyelid surgery results in a certain degree of bruising and swelling of the eyelids. Swelling and any discolouration of the eyelids will subside in approximately 5 – 7 days. Final results (including fading of the tiny scar) occurs at 6 – 8 weeks.

How much does it cost?
