Neck Lift

Is a Neck Lift for You?

The goal of a neck lift is to tighten the excess skin of the neck to diminish wrinkling, banding and sagging. Some fat may be removed and underlying muscles and connective tissue are tightened. If you are bothered by sagging, loose skin or the ‘banded’ appearance of your neck, then a surgical neck lift procedure may provide a solution. You may hear neck lift surgery referred to as cervicoplasty (to remove excess skin) or platysmaplasty (to tighten loose neck muscles and reduce the ‘banded’ appearance of the neck). Cosmetic surgeons will perform one or both of these procedures to tighten loose neck muscles and remove excess, sagging skin, restoring a smoother, firmer, and better defined appearance to the neck. Liposuction can also be performed to remove excess fat from beneath the chin. A neck lift is routinely performed in conjunction with a mini or lower facelift.

Recovery from Neck Lift Surgery

Recovery takes anywhere from two to four weeks in most people, though many patients go back to work in two weeks. Scars are usually not noticeable after enough time has passed for them to mature, plus they are easily disguised in natural skin creases, or by the hair. In persistent cases scars can be hidden with makeup until total healing has occurred. Please be aware that the aging process continues after surgery and that some relaxation of tissues will occur over the first few weeks.

How much does it cost?

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
