Platelet Rich Plasma PRP

What is Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP?

PRP treatments are a new medical technology used in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries as well as for skin rejuvenation. Because your own blood is used, the treatment is very low risk and there is no danger of disease or allergies/anaphylaxis. Our nurse will draw a small amount of blood (similar to a standard blood test). Your blood will then be entered into a centrifuge which will separate your blood and extract the platelet rich plasma out. The platelets contain lots of special growth and healing factors, these will be activated using a special laser light. This activated PRP is then injected under the skin (or into the joint/tendon) which will stimulate new collagen formation and enhance skin rejuvenation. PRP contains large numbers of growth and healing factors which repairs skin, produces new healthy tissue and accelerates the normal healing process.

What can be treated with PRP?

PRP can be used to produce a natural and noticeable improvement to:

  • Sun damaged and prematurely aged skin,
  • Dark circles under eyes,
  • Tear troughs/hollowness under eyes,
  • Sagging skin on neck/jawline,
  • Crêpey/ weathered hands,
  • Full face rejuvenation,
  • Décolletage fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Hair Loss (alopecia) for males & females.

What sports injuries can be treated?

    • PRP is a natural and effective alternative for the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and pain, often with immediate effect. PRP can be used to treat:

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments will depend on the patient and the condition. Ideally 3 or more treatments spaced 4 weeks apart for cosmetic treatments, 1-2 treatments for sports injuries.

When will I see results?

For cosmetic treatments, the healing and rejuvenation process is a gradual one, and it will take several months to notice your skin becoming firmer, healthier and smoother. The results will continue to improve over the next 12 months.
